When I was in nursing school, I was constantly stressed out. I was always worrying about passing the up-coming HESI test, doing homework, working in clinicals, and so much more.
I also felt like I didn't have anyone that could help me. Sure, I had a great group of girls in my nursing class, but they couldn't really help because they were learning this information just like me and dealing with their own grades.
Instead, I would have loved to have been able to ask other nurses for tips on how to pass the HESI, pass the NCLEX test, what clinicals were like, etc. Especially someone who had been where I had been before.
It was around this time in my last nursing year that I suddenly had a brainstorm. "Hey," I thought, "maybe I should start a blog and record some of my experiences online." This way, I could help all of those other potential nursing students who were soon going to be in the same position I had been in.
So around that time I started my website and blog. Luckily, my husband was a full-time blogger/webmaster, so he could help me do the technical stuff, and I could focus on blogging.
And so we did it. And I found that it was a lot of fun. I soon started getting visitors to my blog, and I found that by posting my experiences, it helped to relieve stress. I was also able to help a lot of other nursing students out.
I got a lot of positive feedback about my blog, and that was a great feeling. Also, I soon learned something: The internet needs more nurses.
The internet became a great way for me to not only share tips, but also to share my views on nursing.
If you are a
registered nurse, then I would like to encourage you to also start your own blog or website as well. It isn't very complicated, and you can even do it for free. If you need help, then you can always learn
how to make a website from my husband's website.
If you do decide to blog, then I wish you the best of luck. Maybe one day we will cross paths.
